Below you will find photos and descriptions of our M&D Evans Vandenabeele pairings for 2018. Many of our pairings are switched up every year to truly get a good test of each bird. The birds listed below are what I consider our best birds although we do breed from about 10 total pairs. I am introducing crosses into the Evans’ Gaby’s including from the lines of Kannibaal, Picasso and the Diablo/Tinkelbelle Arie Dykstra birds. Please contact me if you are interesting in those crosses.
Scroll to the bottom of the page for details on purchasing from these pairs.
Many of these pairs will produce racing pigeons that carry the LDHA and DRD4 (dopamine receptor) genes which have proven to have an influence on the performance of racing pigeons. Below are the prices for birds which are tested for and carry those genes:
Blue AA CCCC birds will be $600
Blue AA CCCT birds will be $900
Blue AB CCCC birds will be $300 and up
Blue AB CCCT birds will be $500 and up
Rec. Opal AA CCCC birds will be $800
Rec. Opal AA CCCT birds will be $1200
Rec. Opal AB CCCC birds will be $400
Rec. Opal AB CCCT birds will be $1000
Sylvan Diba Pair
Sometimes to move forward, we have to look back. Sylvan Diba is the father of Danica Need to Know, the hen of the Wicked Pair (see below). She is one of my absolute best hens. My goal in my breeding program is to concentrate the genetics of the best of the best birds. Buy purchasing the sire of one of my best, I am assured to keep these genes around for a long time. Children from this pair not only have the blood of Pre Olympic and Davina coursing through them, but they also have Shadow and Black National. I am moving one of my best racing hens to the breeding shed in 2018 and will mate her to Sylvan Diba, her great grandfather. Kastle Lilly’s father is First Drop Don, who is a son of Danica Need to Know, who is a daughter of Sylvan Diba. Because of the success of Kastle Lilly and her siblings from 2015, I am putting First Drop Don and Kastle Black together again in 2018.
Cock: Sylvan Diba is a direct son of the world-class Pre Olympic when mated to Lady of the Rings.
Dam: Kastle Lilly is a daughter of First Drop Don and Kastle Black. She was 1st place 2016 Champion Old Bird as a yearling. National Ace Bird as a two year old. She won 1st @ 200, 3rd @ 100m, 4th @ 200m, 5th @ 150m, 5th @ 150, and 6th place (second to loft) in a very hot 500 mile race as a yearling.

Dark Storm X Donatella
Sire: Dark Storm 14 GB C 29801. Kastle Black’s half-brother has arrived in America to breed for Donald Campbell (Pressing On Loft) and here at Kastle Loft. We will continue to breed, test and select for the best M&D Evans Vandenabeele’s in the tough headwind races. Meet Dark Storm: Exclusive PIPA offer direct from 1. Nat. Carenthan winner ‘Black National’. His mother is breeder of the super Nat. acebird ‘Cruise Missile’.
Dam: Donatella. She is a daughter of the famous 11-flight Hen of Don Campbell when mated to Sylvan Perfection 133. She is a full sister to Campbell’s Prize and has bred 5th @200 119b., 4th @ 300 57b. in the Banks of Wabash Challenge. Plus 1st Place Combine 250 miles 257b
Sylvan Perfection Pair
One of the best proven sons from The Perfect Pair now at Kastle Loft
Cock: Sylvan Perfection 10 AU FSI 133. I somehow convinced – or wore down – Don Campbell to sell me his superb, proven cock which he has had for the last 5 years. I already have one proven cock (Campbell’s Prize, see below) from Sylvan Perfection and I’m now also breeding from yet another son and daughter in 2016. But to have the original source, the sire of so many fantastic winners and breeders, will continue to set up Kastle Loft for long-term success. He is a grandson of Shadow and carries the lines of Rolls Royce, Carrie and the Uno line. Try finding any children of the Perfect Pair for sale! You won’t find them, and if you do, you will have to pay a hefty price and for good reason. Here is just some of the record of at least 4 generations of his progeny:

Hen: Lovely Rita. 12 AU IHC 5734. This grand daughter of Benetton and Rolls Royce has been the perfect hen for me and will no doubt be a perfect mate for the son of the Perfect Pair. Babies from this pair will have Shadow and Rolls Royce on both sides. She has perfect conformation, size, and has produced winners with three different cocks. Her children have also produced winners.
My expectations, based on both performance and fairly tight genetics, are that they will breed clones of themselves. Based on the performance of two their children in my loft, I was correct. This is why I am putting them back together in 2018.
Price: $400 each.
Einstein x Lucy Pair
The best of Shadow and Black National together
Cock: Kastle Einstein 2012 GB C 39756. I’m very excited about this pair of imports. Einstein has proven through two generations to produce winners, Ace birds on up through to the Federation level. His children are already producing winners and a 2nd AU ACE Ohio. He is one of the last babies to ever be sold from Myrtle Loft’s #1 breeder Eisenhower. I can count on one hand the number of children off Eisenhower in the U.S. I am breeding from 5 of his children this year.
Dam: Lucy in the Sky AU 12 GHC 1947. She is also a successful racer having also competed in very tough competition in the GHC and FSI for John Weeks. Four siblings in the same year scored and a sister was 14th Champion YB GHC club. She has proven herself to be statistically my best hen as a breeder so far. She has bred multiple outright club and combine winners and money winners for me and for others and multiple ACE birds while being mated to THREE different cocks. Most recently, one of her sons scored in the money in the Dixie Convention Race 2015 (32nd place). Her children are breeding winners against 200-700 birds.
Price: $500 each
The Wicked Pair
Proven under all conditions at all distances, especially 350 mile young bird races. Line bred to Shadow.
Of course let’s not forget this pair. They were easily the best producers of 2014 and 2015, including “First Drop Don” you see below. Their best victory in 2015 was with Blue Moon Pie (Kastle 1524) who was my one and only entry in a one loft race in 2015. She was a May hatch, sent late to the Blue Bucket Stampede OLR, and ended up winning money 3 different ways and finished 19th Average Speed with over 600 birds competing. In 2014, I sent two nest mates to Don Campbell to fly. In the highly competitive OCR race, they both finished strong, placing 2nd (Eq. 1) and 14th out of 538 birds at 340 miles. One of them raced well enough to be the 13th Ohio YB ACE pigeon 2014.
Check out those results from their babies above – which I haven’t updated with 2015-2017 races yet (I’m bad)! Wicked Strong is a grandson of Shadow and has Shadow in his pedigree 3 times. The Need to Know hen is a stunning grand daughter of Pre-Olympic, Lady of the Rings, Davina and Lord of the Rings. The babies are generally medium and are very strong. The will be blue bars, or dark checks. I had a couple of white flights pop up this year.
Price: $400 each
Campbell’s Prize Pair
Sire: Campbell’s Prize AU 2012 FV 102. He has raised winners every year and with 4 hens so far. I wasn’t disappointed in 2016 when another of his children placed in the money in the Dixie Convention Race. Like in 2015, his other son Kastle 1540, placed 8th in the Dixie Convention race. In an earlier race leading up to the Dixie for Arthur Vega, Kastle 1540 placed 20th against more than 1,000 birds. Campbell’s Prize is one of the very few children to leave the loft from Don Campbell’s prized pair, The 11-Flight Hen and his Son of the Perfect Pair (Sylvan Perfection FSI 133, see above). The potency of the children from the Perfect Pair is remarkable and has indeed been passed on to Campbell’s Prize. His children have bred winners already, too. In 2014, Campbell’s Prize bred Kastle 1446 who placed 4th in the 2014 OCR against 539 birds, is the 3rd ACE bird for Ohio and 153rd National ACE out of nearly 2700 qualified ACE birds in the country. Another son, 1442, bred money winners for the Rosarios in the GHC in 2106. Combined, these two grandchildren of Campbell’s prize have placed so far: 12th @150m vs 1,591b, 27th @300m vs. 713b (Band Race), 99th @250m 699b.
Hen: Kastle Gold 2014 GB C 30024. She is one of the very last children of Golden Gaby to be sold by Mark Evans. Kastle Gold bred 6th place 2016 Grain Belt and also the 14th place (Eq 1) final 325 mile race, 14th Avg. Speed bird at the Plymouth Peak Challenge 2017. Golden Gaby has proven to be a fantastic breeder at the highest levels and down through many generations. Mark Evans has declared that he will no longer be selling children from Golden Gaby, so I feel very fortunate to get one of the last. Kastle Gold, whose dam is the world-class Davina, is ridiculously strong and fierce and for quite a while I thought she was a cock. Children from this pair will be full of strength and vigor.
Price: $400 each
First Drop Don X Kastle Black
Back together again1 Two proven racers and breeders line bred to Shadow. Their daughter, Kastle Lilly, has been moved to the breeding shed in 2018.
Sire: First Drop Don AU 2014 Kastle 1424. A son of the Wicked Pair (above), he was raced by Don Campbell of the IHC club in Cleveland. This bird was on the first drop of every race he was in, including a fifth race at 175 miles when Don had a clock malfunction and lost the race. His best finish was 2nd (Eq. 1) in the OCR vs. 538 birds at 340 miles. His siblings have been fantastic racers and now he and his siblings are breeding winners.
Hen: Kastle Black 2014 GB C 30000. Also extremely noteworthy is the hen, Kastle Black, who is the ONLY daughter of Black National in North America. Black National was a fantastic and accomplished racer in headwinds for Les Morris in the UK before being bought by Mark Evans. Black National is already breeding winners. Their babies so far have been very consistent in their size and conformation. They are medium in size and very strong with nice chest size.
Price: $500 each
The Recessive Opals (aka Mosaics)
Winning lines of Eisenhower, Jester, Carrie, Golden Gaby and more.
I have a handful of recessive opal birds (also called mosaics to the Brits and racing pigeons folks). It is a recessive color and the gene has to be present in both parents in order for the children to show the color. Our recessive opals will have the blood of Shadow, Eisenhower, Jester, Carrie, Lady Spirit, 90 Cock, Golden Gaby, Joint Venture, etc. These birds are winning in my club and one placed in the money in the 2016 Dixie Convention Race. Some of the recessive opal birds we are breeding from includes A cock (Kastle 1418) and another hen (Kastle 1616) will be from Kastle Einstein x Kastle Black. The second cock is a product of Golden Gaby x Lady Bliksem and the 90 Cock x Lady Spirit. Babies from Kastle 1418 have been racing very well earning diplomas in my club and winning some money in an auction race in North Carolina.
Check for availability and specific pricing. Babies will be starting at $400. Raced young birds will be more.
We will not be raising many extra late hatches unless someone has asked us to. If you see something you are interested in, I would highly recommend talking with me about it before I split up my breeders. It is entirely likely I will have some birds to sell from my racing teams at the end of the season, but of course the prices will be higher since they will have been tested. But there will be no guarantees as to which birds I will sell from my team.
This is a racing loft, not a breeding station, and the majority of birds are being raced here at Kastle Loft and around the country in futurity and One Loft Races. If you are interesting in purchasing a baby from one of these pairings, the only way to guarantee it is to place a non-refundable deposit. I keep a close eye on the health of my breeding pairs and limit the number of babies they feed in any given year. I will not be raising extra babies from every pair just to sell.
The prices will be honored until October of 2017. A $100 non-refundable deposit will hold a baby for you. With a deposit, I can also put you on a waiting list in case someone backs out. By holding a bird for you, I will not make it available for purchase to anyone else while I feed, medicate and care for it. Therefore, the deposit is non-refundable. The bird(s) must be paid for in full by November 1, 2017 or I will make the bird available again for purchase. If I am not happy with the quality of the birds, I will refund your money or we can apply it to another available bird. I fully expect that the 2017 hatches will be mature for the 2016 breeding season. Total balance will need to be paid before I ship any birds. I do not have space to house birds into the next breeding season. I prefer to ship the bird as soon as possible to get them acclimated in their new home. Please be prepared to pay the balance due when the bird is approximately 6 weeks old. You will be notified well in advance of that date. All birds will be vaccinated with PMV and KM-1.
